Sorry about dissapearing on you like that, but my reasons are a lot more serious than a stupid test.... I'm sure you are all aware of the situation in New Orleans, with Huricane Katrina and everything, now I want to tell you that a simillar thing happened here, twice, just as bad, maybe even worse. It had rained every day for about a month throughout the country. 39 out of the 41 romanian counties were repeatedly flooded throughout the summer, and this is what it comes down to: more than 30.000 people dead, even more homeless, hundreds of thousands of homes destroyed, more than half of the country's crops compromissed, dusines of roads, bridges and railroads practically washed away. A lot of villages and small towns were isolated, the only way to get people food, fresh water or medical attention was by chopper. Millitary helicopters were flying back and forth over our house....we were very lucky....the city, although a major one, was isiolated, the bridges leading out of it had all been washed away, but fortunately, the water stopped advancig a few streets away, thank God....it almost covered up cars, and yet we were among the lucky ones to get away this easilly.....

Wow, I had no idea that was going on. It seems strange how the news never reports these type of natural disasters from countries like Romania. Although I am glad to hear that you're safe and well I am sorry to hear everything that was going on to you

Wow, how come they never ever let us know about these things here, I've heard lots about America but I had no idea.
I know it's kinda clishae but I hope things improve and get better, the worst that's happened around where I live was a landslide through the next village over because the farmer plowed his field at the wrong time >.< I know how bad that was for the people living there, so I can only imagine what it must be like having the whole country suffer.
Anyway, I sincerly hope that things get better soon for you and your country and everyone else who's suffering in such a way!

Indeed, the situation is greatlly improving and a lot of efforts are being made to help these unfortunate people, but we still have a long way to go before everything will be back to normal. I can only guess what they went through.....can you even imagine seeing your home and your life's work gone in the blink of an eye, wiped clean off the face of the Earth? And not to mention that a lot of these people are elderly. I still can't believe how lucky we (my familly and I) have been, and how close we were to getting our house flooded.

I'm extremely late in responding to this but I do hope she gets to read this... I'm so sorry to hear about that Eledhwen. My heart and prayers go out to those affected by the tragedy. Here in the US, Lafayette was spared the fate of New Orleans for it is 150 miles away. So our town is taking in some of the citizens affected by Katrina. I'm still trying to get used to hearing the term "refugee" in Louisiana let alone the country I live in...it's very sad I can honestly say that I'm still in shock. It's been a little bit too and they're beginning to get the water out of New Orleans. Seems like fate has delt a cruel hand as of late...I wish you well most earnestly and wish both regions in the world well too.

Indeed....but perhaps, as we like to belive, everything happens for a reason, we are always just a small part of something overwelming, and we should try to find out what it is...... no one will ever know for sure why all of us, everybody who has ever dealt with anything like this, are being punnised like this. Anyway, there's absolutelly nothing you and I can do about it, is there?.....but if there is, I guess we'll just have to grin and bare it and hope and pray fo the best until someone, maybe you, maybe me, maybe someone else, finds out what it is. Good health to you all and God bless each and every one of you!

Wow...it is very, eye-opening. I hadn't heard of this at all. And I try to keep up with the news. Heck a lot of people I know never even heard of the Pakistani Earthquake. Man it really goes to show how messed up our media is sometimes.
In any case, I hope that not too many people you knew were in the flooded area, and that all of them are recovering as best as they can considering the circumstances.
