Happy halloween to everyone, even if you don't "celebrate" it.(this holiday is about "trick or treating" / getting candy for free by people in your neighborhood/strangers, just thought some people would like to know if those people don't know about it.)

Yeah, I'm 16 and I still went trick-or-treating with my friends. Between the four of us we averaged 12.3 pounds of candy, 49 pounds total. (If you don't use the stupid American system of measurement, that's 5,579.19 grams average and 22,226.03 grams total.

I've always known about halloween but I've only ever done parties when I was a brownie or guide, I've never known or even seen someone trick or treating before, and though I think a few of the parties I've been to were supposed to be halloween ones, we didn't dress up or anything though.
To be honest I tend to think more of All Souls Day rather than Halloween however sad that may sound, lol.

All Souls day is the day that the church remembers all who have died, especially those who died in the last year.
It is nothing to do with spooks or anything supernatural, just a simple rememberance and thanks giving for the peoples lives.

Oh, I know what that was/is Tin, I thought you ment the anual halloween movies. -And yes a man named(I'm not a 100% corect, but this is mostly truth) Vladamir Dracula, was a living person....*human. He did slaughter hundreds if not thousands but that was during the dark-middle ages, I don't remember when though. But he was no Vampire.

ok, guys, here we go....Romanian history 101:around the year 1450, in the time when Romania was divided into 3 principalities(Moldova-where I come from and which was the richest and largest of the 3,Transilvania, and Tara Romaneasca, or The Romanian Lands) there lived a man named Vlad the Impaler, son of Vlad Dracul(Dracul=the Devil)He was actually a very religious man, and because he had done the Church a great favour, he was given the Order of the Dragon, but because the peasants were so uneducated, they mistook Dragon for Devil. Anyway, Vlad the Impaler, or more commonly known as Dracula, was a very strict and honest man. There is actually a very famous story about him and a foreign merchant, who came to the country with a large fortune with him. Fearing for his money, he asked Vlad to advise him where he should leave it overnight. Vlad told him to count his money then leave it right in the middel of the street. The merchant, thogh concerned, did as he was told. the next morning he went to recover his money, and was amazed to find that it was exactly the way he left it, without one coin missing! And as for all that "Impaler" stuff, we didn't even start that! At that time the country was permanently attacked by the Turkish Empire and it was actually the turks who originaly called him "the Impaler" because he took no prisoners of war. He executed all of them by impaleing them with 15-meter-long wodden spikes which were then raised up-right to serve as a warning for all those who dared come to his country with thoughts of war. A so-called forest of these spikes still stand, even to this day as a reminder......And here's another fact for you:Vlad didn't rule over Transilvania! He ruled over Tara Romaneasca, but after his first reign(he ruled from 1456 to 1467, and then again from1478 to1484-I don't think these are the exact dates, but work with me here! All this stuff is what I remember from last school year!!! ) he was exiled to Transilvania fo about 10 years. If there is anyone who is even remotely interrested in any more Romanian history, don't hesitate to ask. We have over 3500 years if it!

well.....to be honest neither am I, 'cause for the last year i had to eat geography on rye! But anyway, this is something everybody here knows(it's kind of like a civic duty, or moral obligation,or something, to know your past and stuff like that. Pretty boring, actually....), but thanks anyway!(that is, if you realy mean it, cause if you don't, you will suffer the death of a thousand flies!!!-I don't know exactly which cartoon I got that one from!I hve the sneaking susspicion it's from Dexter's Lab.):-)))))))))

it's VLAD DRACULA, not Vladimir Dracul!!!! and all that stuff I learned from History class, when I was supposed to be studying Geography! By the way, did you learn from that movie, which I also saw,by the way, that he had a gay brother, who became sultan Murad's lover, the sultan Vlad fought against many-a-time?

It is Vladimir, the dracul part was a mistake but his firast ful name is Vladimir, not vlad, vlad is only a "shortened" vrs.

.....anyway, we'll never know for sure(although in all the chronicles of that age he is called just Vlad and there are also a lot of guys I know whose names are "Vlad", not "Vladimir", so it wouldn't be that shocking if his name was simply Vlad ) because it's not like they had birth certificates or stuff like that in the 1400, so why don't we just drop it and make peace, shall we?(I find it wise to avoid conflict as much as possible and I try using a more diplomatic approach as often as I can, although I like being contradicted.....you figure me out, 'cause I'm done trying!)

Oh I definetly agree with you about no conflict but his name is vladimir, do a little more research you'll see. (ps, to avoid conflict ->this is a future thought, try not to give yourself the last word.
