I think, and hope you agree, that the website is looking a little bit down now-a-days. A little bit out of date, afterall it is still the original site abdiel made. Which is why I plan on redoing it with a new design, new features, new content. New everything. So post away with any of ideas you may have ;D BTW, I was also considering making it so it is actually part of the forum. What would you think of that?

I'll admit I'm curious.... though maybe not in the obvious way....

I was actually taking a look at the website last night and thinking it needed revamping. I'm not quite sure what to do about it myself though, and without a visual website editor i can't do very intricate stuff.

I'll admit I'm curious.... though maybe not in the obvious way.... In what way? 1. "New Features" I'm just wondering what this would entail that's not covered in "New Content" and "New Design". 2. "I was also considering making it so it is actually part of the forum." I'm curious as to how you'd go about accomplishing this- bringing the site to the forums or vice versa.... or are we talking just linking the two? Just a couple of q's to throw at ya.....

I'm fairly pleased with the "quality" that is offered/given to us. I believe we should follow our "old ways." I look at it this way; My opinion about what we have now is "A" quality. But if we make a new one we could be gambling with a possible "A+" or much lower. In the words of a green Jedi Master "Dwell on this subject, we must." - (Yoda)

I think that a change would be good for us. It may just bring back some more members too ... Now, I pretty much know nothing about website design, so this would have to be done without me. I do enjoy the site that we have now, but it does not seem as "flashy" as some of the other kinships' sites, not as sleek. If I knew how to design a website, I would love to help. Personally though, I would go for an entire new look to it.

OK, I'll admit "New Features" was for dramatical effect only It will mainly be a redesign. Plus an update of current information and addition of new information. As for how it would be more integrated, at the very least it would be extra links between the two and a similar style in their design. At the very most, it would be making the site a part of the forum. Maybe we'll settle with somewhere in-between the two? The reason I want to do this is because the website is usually the first impression potential members and potential friends get of us. Therefore, it needs to attract their attention. I like the current one, but feel that it is time for a change. If in the end the "new" site is worse than the old one, we can always revert back

Alright, I'm ok with that, as long as we can always fall back on the old one, if things don't end well.

Ok, as of now, I'm devoting some time to a new and improved website. I'm going to try my hand some more advanced web design and see what I can come up with.
And I found out that I has Photoshop, so I can finally fix those link pictures, or make new ones for the new site.
So, for a general setup, I'm thinking a little something like this: At the top, we have a frame across the page with our CoP banner, which stays there through every page. On the left, a seperate frame with all of the links to the pages. In the center/right, the main page where everything is displayed.
I've done this before, and I think pages load pretty quickly when you're only changing a frame instead of the entire window.
Now I just need some idea of how to make it "flashy"...

Haha, very funny I don't have any experience with flash anyway. I wouldn't know where to start.

That sounds great so far Tali. Is there a way that we would be able to make more pictures, say images from LotRO, show up around the site at random? Like...an orc or two there, some elves popping up every once in a page, you know? Right now, I think we have about one picture on there. A lot more pictures would help to make the site stand out more too.

My list so far includes: - Blue! At the moment it seems too distanced from the forums
- Banner/Menu like above. Again, for continuality.
- Site Updates Section
- Up-to-Date Member Bios with links to forum profiles. And then add links from forum profiles to website profiles
- More Images. Maybe have a random piece of artwork on the site in the same way we have a random background here
- Up-Date the Application form. We could add a link that takes them straight to a pre-made posting template (which would have to be on the forums themselves)
- Instead of the Quotes page, how about having a couple of "Random" quotes appearing on the home page. Something varying so that guests will come back
- More diplomatic information. And info on the NC too.
That's all I've thought of so far

You can post elsewhere too Switch. I believe that it is sometime in 2006. We still have a while to wait.

That's all I've thought of so far I also think that we should have, like a "rank" area on the website. E.G. 1.) Leader 2.) Heir 3.) Captain 4.) 1st Sgt 5.) Corporal 6.) Private 7.) Recruit etc. Or we could break it down further like; 1st squad. 1.) Captain- Elindir 2.) 1st Sgt- Mil 3.) Corporal- Switch 4.) Private-? 5.) Recruit-? __________ 2nd Squad 1.) Captain- Whoever 2.) 1st Sgt- Whoever 3.) Corporal- Whoever 4.) Private-? 5.) Recruit-? etc. This could possibly make people (who just saw the website think, " Hey so there isn't just one leader, its an equal shot for me to be a 'co-leader.' Or a leader of 1/3 squadrons.")
